Background

C-Jun is a protein that in humans is encoded by the JUN gene. This gene is the putative transforming gene of avian sarcoma virus 17. It encodes a protein which is highly similar to the viral protein, and which interacts ly with specific target DNA sequences to regulate gene expression. This gene is intronless and is mapped to 1p32-p31, a chromosomal region involved in both translocations and deletions in human malignancies.

Cross Reactivity

No cross-reactivity with other proteins.

Immunogen

E.coli-derived human c-Jun/JUN recombinant protein (Position: K35-F331) .

Clonality

• Polyclonal

Tissue Specificity

Strongly expressed in placenta. Expressed at lower levels in heart, pancreas, kidney and brain. Expressed in endothelial cells. Isoform alpha was found to be the predominant isoform. Isoform beta was not found in pancreas and brain.

Applications

Flow Cytometry

Field of Research

Calcium Channels, Calcium Signaling, G Protein Signaling, Neuroscience, Neurotransmission, Protein Phosphorylation, Receptor Tyrosine Kinases, Receptors / Channels, Signal Transduction, Signaling Pathway, Tyrosine Kinases

Purification

Immunogen affinity purified.

Form

Liquid

Function

Form a receptor-activated non-selective calcium permeant cation channel. Acts as a cell-cell contact-dependent endothelial calcium entry channel. Probably operated by a phosphatidylinositol second messenger system activated by receptor tyrosine kinases or G-protein coupled receptors. Mediates cation entry, with an enhanced permeability to barium over calcium. May also be activated by intracellular calcium store depletion.
