BAPTA is a Ca2+ chelator and an inhibitor of phospholipase C (PLC) with an IC50 of 7.0 mM and exhibits high Ca2+ selectivity, minimal pH dependence, and a fast binding rate. Its rapid Ca2+ buffering capacity makes it ideal for studying Ca2+ release from intracellular stores or influx through Ca2+ channels.
