Elevated direct bilirubin in serum (plasma) is commonly found in hepatitis, extrahepatic biliary obstruction, hemolytic diseases, neonatal jaundice, etc. The CheKine ｢ Direct Bilirubin (DBIL) Content Assay Kit (micromethod) measures the direct bilirubin content in serum or plasma.The principle is that the direct bilirubin is oxidized by oxidants to produce biliverdin. The decrease in absorbance at 450 nm is proportional to the concentration of direct bilirubin, and the content of direct bilirubin in serum (plasma) can be calculated by the change in absorbance.
