Tropomyosin regulates the interaction between actin andmyosinin skeletal and cardiac muscle and plays a key role in regulatingcontraction. At LDI it is purified from cardiac muscle using a combination of ammonium sulfate precipitation, ion-exchange chromatography and hydroxyapatite chromatography. It is likely a mixture of the alpha- and beta-isoforms.
