By controlling the influx of calcium into mitochondria, MCUB helps to regulate mitochondrial function and protect cells from damage. Research has shown that dysregulation of MCUB can lead to mitochondrial dysfunction and contribute to the development of various diseases, including neurodegenerative disorders and cancer.
