Interleukin-36 (IL-36) was first discovered based on its homology to the IL-1 superfamily (IL-1F) . IL-36 includes agonist IL. -36α, IL-36β, IL-36γ and inhibitor IL-36Ra, whose agonist mainly has pro-inflammatory function. IL-36Ra acts as a natural inhibitor of IL-36 agonist binding to IL-36R and inhibiting agonist ligands. Binding. IL-36 is biologically active in epithelial cells and specific immune cells.
