Saringosterol

Saringosterol is found in Sargassum muticum. Saringosterol is a LXR agonist that lowers cholesterol. saringosterol inhibits the mRNA and protein expression of peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor γ and CCAAT enhancer-binding protein α in 3T3-L1 cells. Saringosterol has anti-Mycobacterium tuberculosis activity. Saringosterol can be used in anti-obesity and anti-atherosclerosis research[1][2][3].
