Source: HEK293.Sterile Filtered colorless solution.Thrombopoietin or TPO or MGDF, is a protein (glycoprotein hormone) that can be found in the liver and kidney tissues. TPO regulates the creation of platelets. The protein enhances the production & differentiation of cells such as megakaryocytes that are part of the bone marrow cells that secretes a wide number of platelets. The cellular development process that ends up in the production of platelet calls (Megakaryocytopoiesis) . Humoral growth factor is needed for the megakaryocyte proliferation & maturation of megakaryocyte, not apart from thrombopoiesis.TPO Mouse Recombinant produced in HEK293 cells is a single, non-glycosylated polypeptide chain containing 341 amino acids (22-356 a.a) and having a molecular mass of 36.4kDa. TPO is fused to a 6 amino acid His-tag at C-terminus & purified by proprietary chromatographic techniques.

Functional Assay

Measured in a cell proliferation assay using MO7e human megakaryocytic leukemic cells. The ED50 range

TPO protein (0.5mg/mL) contains Phosphate-Buffered Saline (pH 7.4) and 10% glycerol.

Store at 4°C if entire vial will be used within 2-4 weeks. Store, frozen at -20°C for longer periods of time. For long term storage it is recommended to add a carrier protein (0.1% HSA or BSA) .Avoid multiple freeze-thaw cycles.

Measured by its ability to agglutinate human red blood cells. The ED50 for this effect is >= 25ug/ml.
