YAP1 is a multifunctional transcriptional regulator and an important downstream target in the Hippo signaling pathway, affecting organ size control and tumor suppression through proliferation and apoptosis regulation. STK3/MST2 and STK4/MST1 phosphorylate together with SAV1, inactivating YAP1 and WWTR1/TAZ oncoproteins.
