The recombinant HSV-1 (strain 17) gD comprises 296 amino acids and predicts a molecular mass of 33.07 kDa. As a result of glycosylation, it migrates as an approximately 38.3 kDa band in SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions. The molecular weight of this protein is around 41.7 kDa verified by SEC-MALS.
