ST6GALNAC5 is a sialyltransferase that takes part in the synthesis of ganglioside GD1a. This protein is part of the protein glycosylation transduction, meaning, modification of proteins. ST6GALNAC5 is expressed strictly in the brain tissue, and is a crucial component in breast cancer cells metastasis to the brain tissue. It is thought to enable cancer cells to go through the blood-brain barrier.ST6GALNAC5 produced in Sf9 Baculovirus cells is a single, glycosylated polypeptide chain containing 316 amino acids (30-336a.a.) and having a molecular mass of 36.4kDa.ST6GALNAC5 is expressed with a 9 amino acid His tag at C-Terminus and purified by proprietary chromatographic techniques.

ST6GALNAC5 protein solution (0.25mg/mL) contains 10% glycerol & Phosphate Buffered Saline (pH 7.4) .

Store at 4°C if entire vial will be used within 2-4 weeks. Store, frozen at -20°C for longer periods of time. For long term storage it is recommended to add a carrier protein (0.1% HSA or BSA) .Avoid multiple freeze-thaw cycles.
